We are always looking for volunteers to help out at a variety of events and for a variety of roles. Come help us out and have a blast while doing it!

Benefits of Being a Strathmore Heritage Days Stampede Volunteer!

  • Every volunteer is given a ticket to The Heritage Days Stampede Appreciation Banquet on Tuesday July 26th 2011. This includes a live band, fabulous food, silent auction, as well as a live auction.
  • During shifts at Heritage Days volunteers will be provided with meals from our bunkhouse as well as complimentary bottled water and Tim Hortons coffee!
  • Volunteer Passes get the volunteer into all events including rodeo, chuckwagons, and the Running with the Bulls on the day of the volunteer’s shift.
  • Acknowledgement letters of completed volunteer hours are available for all volunteers if requested.
  • Being a volunteer is a great way to meet people in the community and come together to make Strathmore’s largest community event even more successful!

Volunteer Roles

50/50
walking throughout the grounds and arena selling 50/50 raffle tickets

Admissions
greeting customers, selling general admission tickets, cash handling, cash register operations

Appreciation Banquet
assisting the committee head with planning, set up and execution of the annual Thank You banquet held for the 600+ volunteers, sponsors and invited guests

Backstretch Club
this is our corporate hosting venue located on the infield side of the arena, you will be asked to assist in the planning, set up and daily execution of ensuring our corporate partners are satisfied with their hosting event

Beer Gardens
greeting customers, selling alcoholic beverages to patrons, cash handling, cash register operations, also looking for volunteers to walk the grandstand selling beverages directly to our customers, must be 18 years or older

Beautifications
assisting the Communities in Bloom committee, you will be directed to place plants, shrubs, trees and mulch around the grounds and buildings

Cabaret
admission ticket sales, beverage ticket sales, bartenders, cash handling, walking the facility to ensure a safe and joyous atmosphere, assist the committee head with planning, set up and execution on the Saturday night

EnCana 4H Arena
assist the committee head with the planning, set up and execution of this very popular annual event. Ability to operate small equipment is helpful also

Encana Stage
on the direction of the committee head, you will travel the grounds and grandstands informing our customers of the acts and events that will be happening on the stage throughout the day and night

Kidz Korral
face painting, coloring, etc, it’s all here at the Kidz Korral, if you are creative and energetic, then you are perfect match to help our young customers with their experience of the Stampede.

Livestock Show
assist the committee head with the planning, set up and execution of this very popular annual event.

Private Boxes
the Private Boxes are used by our corporate partners for the hosting of their guests. You will ensure that the needs of these partners are met. Ensuring food orders are correct and delivered on time, fridges are stocked with required beverages, greeting customers, and have the best seat in the house to enjoy the rodeo, chucks and running with the bulls

Re-Entry Gate
checking tickets, stamps and participant ID cards, greeting and thanking our customers for their attendance, helping any of those with special needs and answering any questions that may arise

Rodeo / Chuckwagon
with the guidance of the committee head you will be asked to attend monthly meetings leading up to the event. A role within the committee will be determined by the committee head, preference is given to previous experience

Running with the Bulls
Be a part of the one and only Running with the Bulls, you will be asked to greet the participants, take registrations / waivers, and ensure the participants remain in the designated area prior to the start of the event

Parking / People Mover
you will be asked to help assist our loyal patrons with the parking of their motor vehicles, assist them with any questions they may have. People Movers requires experienced drivers to operate our AGRO John Deere tractors as they transfer spectators from the parking area to our admissions area

Program Sales
a perfect fit for the youngsters, this role involves walking the grounds, grandstand and infield prior to the rodeo and chuckwagon events selling our daily program

Set up / Clean up
assisting the Ag Society staff with the set up and take down of everything heritage days

Strathmore’s Got Talent
this event has everyone talking, with the direction of the committee head, you will be asked to help in the planning, set up and execution of this fabulous pre-Heritage Days event, this event takes place on the Wednesday evening

Tradeshow
assist the committee head with the set up, tear down and execution of the event. greet visitors, entertainers, engage with meet and greet, promote the passport program, flip stage set up, take photos, assist exhibitors (paid with product or cash) and with extra tasks as needed for Show Manager.

Ushering
greeting our customer and ensuring that they find their grandstand seat in a easily and timely manner, helping those with special needs, checking tickets for accuracy

Volunteer Bunkhouse
our VB is the gathering point for the 700+ volunteers, you will be asking to help with preparing food and beverages and ensuring that the volunteers are well taken care of and appreciated for their efforts

Volunteer Corral
this is the first point of contact for any volunteer with HD’s. you will be asked to check in the volunteer and direct them to the appropriate area for their shift and provide them with their credentials and meal tickets

Will Call / Grandstand Seating
you will be asked to operate our computer system that sells tickets via Ticketmaster, this will involve data entry and event selection that meets our customers needs. Will Call involves a filing system of previously purchased tickets.
